Innovative solutions in urban signage for trails and public spaces
This custom urban signage project for the Trilho da Cangosta do Estêvão, brought together different entities that cooperated in the signage design. Together with Câmara Municipal de Vila Nova de Famalicão, Casa de Camilo – Museu | Centro de Estudos, and the company Razão, Floema® produced and installed all the custom urban signage for the trail. The project led to the development of original structures, with high aesthetic value and strong resistance and durability.
The Cangosta do Estêvão Trail is a walking route that can be followed between the parish of São Miguel de Seide and the parish of Landim. Along the way, there is a strong connection between the texts of Camilo Castelo Branco and the architectural and landscape heritage of the parishes.

Signage
To enhance the entire route and its integrated heritage, a custom urban signage project was developed that included the production of FRAME information, interpretation and wayfinding supports, all customised,. All supports were produced with structures in corten steel and with information in phenolic compact laminate. The signs include maps and text engraved by CNC/laser and painted with two-component polyurethane paint.
Regarding the FRAME signage elements, it is possible to identify not only interpretive tables, but also informational ones, with information displayed about the route and its map. In addition to the supports mentioned, we also find XS interpretive totems and directional plates. For the latter, some pre-existing structures were reused for their installation.
In addition to the supports mentioned above, we highlight the interpretive and directional tables with custom design, installed in the parish of Seide. Supports with corten steel structures and information displayed on phenolic compact panels with CNC/laser engraving and two-component polyurethane paint.
A custom urban signage project resulted not only in a perfect symbiosis with the surrounding environment, but also in the creation of heritage-enhancing elements. In short, elements that are an aesthetic extension of the surrounding area and, at the same time, highlight all the historical heritage inherent to the Trilho da Cangosta do Estevão.
